Logistics & Distribution

Strategic Location
Dinwiddie provides a Central East Coast location with access to a vast transportation network (I-85, I-95, US 460, general aviation airport and convergence of two Class “A” rail lines).

Dinwiddie is within a 22 minute drive to Fort Lee, a major United States Army installation. Fort Lee is home to the United States Army Logistics University and to the Defense Logistics Agency.

The Port of Virginia at Hampton Roads, located less than 100 miles from Dinwiddie, is the third largest container port on the east coast of the United States with shipments that reach over 200 countries globally.

Proximity to Major Distributors
Major distribution-related companies call Dinwiddie County home, including Amazon.com and Wal-Mart Distribution Center. 55% of the nation's consumers and manufacturers are within a two day delivery route by truck from central Virginia. More than 100 motor freight companies and brokers operate in the region.

Higher Education
Dinwiddie is only a short distance to Virginia State University, which offers the only logistics degree program in the state.
